I developed a custom WordPress Theme based on a tri-color design. The challenge was pairing this feature-rich piece software down to only the essential information. I played with diagonal lines throughout and attempted to make the experience immersive for the user by providing multi-media elements for the user to engage with.
EMZE is a start-up out of Frisco, TX. This was a local job, which are my favorite kinds of jobs. I built the site from the ground up using clean lines for a modern design. This was my first foray into using flexbox for layout, and I love the results.
Scope.la is a great app that allows businesses to integrate their user-generated social media content into their existing websites. I redesigned their website, created banner graphics, rewrote marketing content, and created technical support documentation.
“Chris was a wonderful person to work with. He is rare in that he has both the ability to create great design and genuine technical writing talents. Many times it can be difficult communicating the intricacies of your app with someone that only understands design, because you aren’t selling designs, you need to speak to the needs of your customer, which means translating the value of your software with persuasive content and technical writing. That is exactly what Chris was able to deliver. I will continue to hire Chris for future projects because he made to easy to work with him.
During the entire length of the project…I don’t think an hour passed after any of my email communications before I was getting a response.”
University of North Texas, Department of Technical Communication
The Department of Technical Communication runs semester-long client projects in which upper-level undergraduate courses partner with businesses on a client project. To manage these projects, the department needed a centralized repository where clients, instructors, and administrators could propose potential projects and the projects could be matched to potential undergraduate courses. In response to this need, I built a custom system using HTML/CSS and Ruby on Rails to meet the department’s needs. The system has full user administration capabilities as well as a variety of user access levels. This was by far my most challenging project, but also very rewarding.
